Environmental Grants
Obtain maximum funding for your Brownfield project with IWM Consulting!
Environmental grants are distributed to municipalities, counties, individuals and private companies who work to improve the environment. We have secured over $5,000,000 from the Indiana Brownfields program and $3,500,000 from EPA grant funding. We understand how to allocate appropriate time for a submission, how to highlight the unique qualities of your request, and how to define a comprehensive plan for the use of the grant money in a well-structured grant/incentive application that will help you effectively compete for funding. Our three-step method for successful grant applications is outlined below.
Step 1: evaluate project and match to grant options
We work closely with our clients in order to identify potential properties or projects that may qualify for grants/incentives and then research the details and requirements of various environmental grants to best pair projects with the proper offers. Among these options are U.S. EPA Brownfields Grants, the Stipulated Assessment Grant Incentive, the Stipulated Remediation Grant Incentive, the Low Interest Loan Incentive, the Petroleum Remediation Grant Incentive, the Voluntary Remediation Tax Credit, the Federal Grant Matching Incentive, and the Community Development Block Grant.
Step 2: gather supporting economic development and environmental data
Once an eligible project has been identified, we will begin assembling the data required for the application, identify data gaps, and develop a realistic time frame based on the due date associated with the grant/incentive application. Often, careful planning is required months in advance in order to obtain the appropriate documentation from the site owner, community, developer, or other agencies in order to prepare and submit a successful application. Additionally, the client may have to procure the services of additional subcontractors to meet the minimum requirements of the grant opportunity.
Our team will conduct a thorough records review for sites/projects of interest. This includes examining town hall minutes, community/company letters of support, previously submitted applications, environmental reports, developer data, real estate appraisals, tax records, utility information, geographical information system mapping, web-based information, and other sources.
Step 3: prepare and track grant/incentive applications
We will organize all of the pertinent information and collaborate with you to review and edit; throughout this process, we maintain open lines of communication with the agency to help ensure the application meets all of the submission requirements prior to finalizing the application. After submission, we make sure our client stays apprised of changes in application review status. Once a determination has been made by the funding agency, we will then work with the client and the agency to determine the next steps for the project.
