Completion of Remedial Action

Successful remediation services solved issues from leaking underground storage tanks in Kentucky.

On behalf of the Responsible Parties for two co-mingled underground storage tank releases in Powell County, Kentucky, IWM recently completed two phases of remedial work at the sites.  Remediation consisted of an excavation and in-situ injections.  Both vertical and angled injections were conducted to better remediate otherwise inaccessible contaminated areas.  The costs were entirely covered by Kentucky’s Petroleum Storage Tank Environmental Assurance Fund.  As IWM accepts direct pay agreements with the Fund, there was no financial burden to the Responsible Parties – even though the remedial costs were almost a half million dollars!
